OnePlus has officially unveiled the release date for its first foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open. In a recent exclusive interview with The Verge, OnePlus COO Kinder Liu confirmed that the highly anticipated phone will make its Global debut on October 19th.

is gearing up for a physical launch event, scheduled for October 19 in Mumbai, at 7:30 PM IST (10 AM EDT, 4 PM CEST). Interestingly, OnePlus’s sibling brand, OPPO, is also hosting a global launch event on the same day, for their Find N3 and the Find N3 Flip in Singapore.

Official renders and US pricing details for the OnePlus Open emerged this week, with a leaked price tag of $1,699, placing it in the same league as the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 and the Google Pixel Fold.  In the Indian market, it’s expected to retail at approximately Rs 1,25,000, offering a more affordable option than the Galaxy Z Fold 5 by about Rs 20,000.

OnePlus Open is expected to feature a 7.8-inch 2K internal display boasting a 120Hz refresh rate, complemented by a 6.3-inch FHD+ outer OLED display. Under the hood, the handset is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, paired with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

When it comes to the camera setup, the OnePlus Open is set to impress with a triple-camera configuration on the rear. It gets a 48MP primary camera with OIS, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 64MP 3x telephoto camera. The OnePlus Open is said to come with an updated Oxygen OS 13 build-based Android 13 that has been specially optimised for foldables.

Other features on the handset include dual 5G, 4G connectivity, NFC, WiFi6, NFC, an alert slider, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a sizeable 4,800mAh battery with 67W fast charging support.
