According to reports, popstar Jennifer Lopez is all set to star in the musical adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman. This musical has been adapted from a novel that was written in 1976. It was made for the screens for the first time in 1985 and starred William Hurt, Raul Julia, and Sonia Braga. The work was later adapted into a Broadway musical, which first premiered in 1993.

A fresh version of this film is in development currently. This is happening three decades after its original stage premiere. As per reports, Jennifer Lopez will play Aurora. Bill Condon will be directing the film. On the other hand, the production members are Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahy and Greg Yolen. Even though Lopez’s acting career has been inconsistent, her acclaimed performances prove that she can act whereas Bill Condon has earlier directed several successful musical stars and seems to be the perfect fit for this film. Fingers crossed!

Jennifer Lopez’s Film Career Journey

Primarily known for her music, Loped has acted in multiple movies. She made her debut in 1986 and was received well for her performances in Selena and Hustlers. Throughout her career, Lopez has demonstrated the talent, grit, and determination needed to build a successful career. The Academy snubbed her for her role as Ramona Vega in Hustlers back in 2019. While the Oscars were watched by 102 million people, she reminded the Academy of what they missed during a high-octane Super Bowl performance with Shakira in 2020.

However, it’s not just the Oscars and the Super Bowl that put her in the spotlight. In the wake of the Academy’s oversight of her performance, she landed an endorsement with American denim brand Guess, returning as the global face of the spring/summer 2020 collection. Additionally, in Versace’s advertisement, Lopez appears in printed jungle patterns. She also became the face of Coach’s new campaign in November 2019. In terms of online engagement and numbers, Lopez has a remarkable ability to convert her fame into a powerful force.

Meanwhile, Bill Condon has an excellent track record when it comes to his film career. He has co-written movies such as Chicago and The Greatest Showman. He has also directed the critically acclaimed 2006 film Dreamgirls. This saw the on-screen debut of singer Jennifer Hudson and featured Beyoncé, who was also best known for her music career at the time.
