The Canadian sitcom Letterkenny is coming to a close with its twelfth season. The show was created by Jared Keeso, who also stars in it. He developed it with director and co-star Jacob Tierney. Set in a fictional town, the show centers on Wayne (Keeso), a local farmer, and his friends, including his sister Katy (Michelle Mylett), Daryl (Nathan Dales), and Squirrelly Dan (K. Trevor Wilson). Farmer McMurray (Dan Petronijevic), local hockey players Reilly (Dylan Playfair) and Jonesy (Andrew Herr), and skids Roald (Evan Stern) and Stewart (Tyler Johnston) also feature in the eccentric show.
In recent developments, Hulu has released the official trailer. As we can observe, the trailer offers a final look at the episodes of the much-loved sitcom. It also includes a fight that involves Wayne and McMurray against an unknown group of people. It also shows Katy wanting to move on from her hometown, with the main characters reflecting on being “stuck” in their lives.
Letterkenny Franchise: What’s Next?
There are sure to be plenty of funny moments in Letterkenny season 12 outside of the final brawl promised in the trailer, as well as some reflection on the lives of the main characters. It could even lead to a satisfying and bittersweet final twist with some of the cast moving on from the small Ontario town. As part of the larger Letterkenny franchise, Keeso previously teased a future Letterkenny movie. Additionally, Letterkenny characters might appear in the spinoff Shoresy, created by Keeso and Tierney.
The hockey comedy Shoresy was recently renewed for season 3, which is good news for viewers. Despite the recent episodes of Shoresy sporting a similar theme to the Letterkenny season 12 trailer, where Keeso’s title character seems to think a lot about why he has decided to stay where he is, Shoresy is likely to live for quite some time to come. Keeso has recently signed a multi-year deal with Crave and New Metric Media that will include “49 episodes of Letterkenny spinoffs, including Shoresy and other potential shows.”
According to Keeso’s new contract, there will be more Letterkenny spinoffs in addition to Shoresy. There hasn’t been any specific content announcement, but depending on how season 12 ends, it might be possible to see a future Letterkenny spinoff featuring a single character moving on from the titular town. There’s no need to worry, however, that Letterkenny season 12 will not mark the end of the franchise in general. Whether the spinoffs are set in a new environment or retain the rural small-town setting, viewers can take comfort from the fact that Letterkenny season 12 does not signal the end of the franchise as a whole.
