After Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese will be re-teaming with Leonardo DiCaprio and Apple Original Films for his next project, The Wager. The film is an adaptation of David Grann’s novel, The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder. Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio acquired the screen rights to the book in July 2022. Although Leonardo DiCaprio’s exact part has yet to be revealed, the book recounts the real-life events surrounding the 1741 wreck of the British Royal Navy ship HMS Wager on a lonely island. It was confirmed in October this year that Martin Scorsese will direct the movie.

Reportedly, the film chronicles a trial in which a British crew that manages to survive a disaster is put on trial after another crew, claiming to be mutineers, washes ashore six months later. The film is being produced by Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, Bradley Thomas, and Dan Friedkin, with Richard Plepler serving as the executive producer.
