Saw is coming back for another installment, making it the 11th one in the franchise. Saw IX has been confirmed by Lionsgate through a social media post. The launch date was also announced, along with the movie’s confirmation. The Saw franchise has been running for the past 10 years, with the first movie released back in 2004. Jigsaw will be back for another time to grace our screens with some gruesome murders.

Saw XI release date

Saw XI is scheduled to be released in theatres on September 27th, 2024. This would be just a year after Saw X, which was released in September of this year. Saw movies have always been released in October except for Saw X and the 2021 spinoff Spiral, which had a May release date. Still, the late September release date is also just in time for Halloween.

Ever since the first movie, the announcement for the next title was made shortly after the release, and the movies have been released within a year’s gap. There was a hiatus of seven years, though, after Saw 3D was released in 2010. The franchise came back with Jigsaw in 2017. Jigsaw’s plot was based on numerous murders occurring in the city, which resembled the work of a serial killer known to be dead for 10 years.

The Saw XI announcement was made on Instagram through a collaboration post between Saw and Lionsgate. The post just had an image of Saw with the Roman numerals ‘XI’. The post is captioned, “The game continues.”

Saw XI: What we know so far

Saw XI movie has been confirmed, but no other detail has been revealed so far. While we do know the overall theme of the movie, it isn’t confirmed who’s going to be involved for the 11th entry in the Saw franchise. This might seem too much for the Saw series to continue even for the 11th year, but it’s not surprising considering the fact that Saw X did pretty well at the box office. Saw X reportedly earned $107 million globally with a budget of $13 million.

In Saw X, we saw John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, travel to Mexico for a medical procedure that’s highly risky and experimental. But Kramer ends up finding out that the operation is actually a scam. He now finds his purpose again as a serial killer making sure to get each one of them go through his infamous murderous traps. Saw X also saw the return of Tobin Bell, the 81-year-old actor, as Jigsaw. We first saw Bell in the original Saw movie that was released back in 2004.

As we’ve seen in the previous franchises, Saw XI will most likely focus on John Kramer, but it isn’t confirmed if Bell will be returning again. More details on Saw XI are expected to be released soon.
