iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max camera details leak reveals upgraded main camera, periscope zoom lens

Apple has reportedly started working on the iPhone 16 series, which should ideally launch in September this year. However, the rumor mill has already started spilling details about the next-generation iPhones. In the latest leak, well-known Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has shared some initial details about the cameras of the iPhone 16 Pro models.

According to DCS, as per details gathered in July 2023, the upcoming iteration of the iPhone 16 Pro series is reported to adopt a G+P solution. It probably suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will have a camera cover or lens made using a combination of glass and plastic materials.

In addition, the tipster claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro series will have an impressive main camera combined with a periscope telephoto. At present, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max is equipped with a periscope telephoto camera, whereas the iPhone 15 Pro has a telephoto lens. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will likely be blessed with a periscope telephoto camera this time. Hence, there is a possibility that the Pro variant may also offer 5x optical zoom like the Pro Max.

Coming back to the main camera sensor of the iPhone 16 Pro series, a previous Weibo post by tipster DCS revealed that it will have a 1/1.14-inch camera sensor equipped with a 7-element lens and G+P module. There is a possibility that the Huawei P70 series, which is expected to debut in China in March, may offer a similar primary camera setup.

As per other reports, the most recent prototype of the iPhone 16 Pro was found to be equipped with a modified Action button, which is similar to the iPhone 15 Pro’s Action button in size but with a flush appeal. Other reports have claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 6.3-inch display, whereas the Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch screen, which is bigger than what’s available on the iPhone 15 Pro series.

The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max may come with a dedicated camera shutter button dubbed the Capture Button. The Pro models may feature a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens with 0.5x mode. In addition, both phones may feature the Apple A18 Pro chip and offer connectivity features, such as NFC and 5G Advanced.
